Work experience
Aug. 2019 – present Minister First Parish U. U. Medfield, Medfield MA
Starting the summer before Covid hit, I have served this wonderful congregation as their full-time minister. My responsibilities have been wide ranging: leading worship services, focusing on membership growth, supervising staff, doing regular pastoral care, leading small group ministries, organizing social events, and finding new ways to utilize our beautiful meetinghouse, built in 1789.
May 2020 – present Board of Directors U. U. Urban Ministry, Roxbury MA
During my five years as a board member I have worked on shaping the direction of the organization, including serving on the subcommittee that rewrote the UUUM vision and mission to create a new model for our work that includes: “working across race and place to dismantle racism and white supremacy culture…”. I am currently the co-chair of the Community Engagement Taskforce, that helps develop longstanding connections and anti-racism work between our U.U. member congregations in Greater Boston Area and the residents and organizations of Roxbury.
Aug. 2018 – June 2019 Director of Family Ministry Arlington Street Church, Boston MA
I was the part-time family minister at the Arlington Street Church in Boston. My responsibilities included organizing volunteers, leading field trips, leading Coming of All Ages, and facilitating youth groups. I chaired the Family Ministry Committee and helped develop a vision and mission for our small RE program. I also led volunteers to the UU Urban Ministry, created family-friendly dinners/vespers services, and organized many other drop-in events. Many Sundays I led the Time for All Ages during the worship service, followed by children’s church and hands-on activities.
Sept. 2018 –2019 Program Director Friday Night Supper Program, Boston MA
In this part-time position at the Arlington Street Church, I was responsible for scheduling volunteers, securing funding, ordering food, and organizing volunteers to cook and serve a weekly meal to over one hundred unhoused people. As an ordained minister, before each meal I usually offered the prayer, as well as helped resolve misunderstandings and conflict between guests or volunteers. Together, we created a nurturing community who came together each Friday to laugh, connect, build lasting friendships, receive free warm cloths and shoes, get basic medical including menstrual products, and to be served a hot, three-course meal in a safe dignified setting.
Sept. 2017 –June 2018 Ministerial Intern First Parish U.U. Hingham Old Ship Church, Hingham MA
I worked as the ministerial intern under the leadership of Rev. Ken Read-Brown, for a one-year internship. I preached monthly, taught religious education, and provided pastoral care. I created a short documentary which was featured on the church’s homepage. Additionally, I was instrumental in promoting the church on social media and co-leading our newly formed Anti-Racism Group.
May. 2017 –Aug. 2017 Student Chaplain Beverly Hospital, Beverly MA
I completed my Clinical Pastoral Education at Beverly Hospital. In addition to creating didactic presentations, engaging with our inter-personal relations group, and writing weekly reflections, I provided pastoral care to medical-surgical, pediatric, and psychiatric patients. Additionally, two days a week I was the chaplain at the Grace Center, a homeless day shelter located in Gloucester, where residents and I created artwork together, talked about their experiences, and connected.
Sept. 2016 –June 2017 Ministerial Intern First Parish U. U. Canton, Canton MA
As part of my educational training to become an ordained minister, I did a one-year ministerial internship at this small congregation, under the supervision of Rev. Beverly Boke. My responsibilities included preaching monthly, doing regular pastoral care, facilitating a covenant group, and leading the congregation to participate at Fair Foods at the U.U. Urban Ministry.
Sept. 2014 – June 2016 Social Justice Chair First Parish U.U. Milton, Milton MA
I served as the Social Justice Chair at this congregation right outside Boston. We largely focused on contributing our time, talent, and treasure to the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry in Roxbury, since they offered a wide variety of programs for UU’s to engage in including: Fair Food, a food justice organization, Jericho Road, an opportunity for folks to offer their professional expertise to assist Roxbury Businesses, Renewal House, a domestic violence shelter, etc.

Sept. 2010 – June 2015 Art Teacher Boston Public Schools, Roxbury MA
For five years I taught art at the Trotter Elementary School, in Roxbury. When I began at the school, the state had designated the Trotter as a Level 4 (failing) school, where drastic measures had to be taken. After three years of working there, our students improved at such a fast rate that the state changed our school’s designation to Level 1 (excellent). In addition to organizing two annual visual and performing arts festivals, I also led after school activities in screen printing, mural painting, animation, and movie making.
Sept. 2007 – June 2010 Art Teacher Quincy Public Schools, Quincy MA
For three years I taught art in Quincy at the middle school and high school levels. On top of my busy class load, I directed the school play, ran a set design club, and a digital animation club. Every year, the music teacher and I organized and installed an arts festival that incorporated the visual arts, tech design, the school chorus and band, with the expectation that every one of our 600 students mount, label, and display at least one piece of visual art for the arts festival.
Aug. 2002 – June 2007 Art Teacher, Drama Teacher Lorraine D. Foster Day School, Hamden CT
For five years I taught art, drama and film classes at this special education school. I taught students who struggled with autism, schizophrenia, substance abuse, etc. This forced me to individualize all of my lessons, develop strategies to improve my classroom management, implement fair discipline, and to help transform my students’ feelings of detachment, angst and anxiety into something beautiful.
